About Shane Keller

Growing up in a small town near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania I started photographing my friends skateboarding but was unhappy with the poor results. My desire to capture stunning peak action shots inspired me to study photography at my local community college.

Following in my brother’s footsteps, I joined the Marine Corps in 2003 as a combat photographer. I spent over two years deployed in Iraq and made thousands of photographs, documenting everything from raids in the middle of the night to humanitarian aid missions at local hospitals. Being even more aware of the world around me, I decided to study photojournalism at Rochester Institute of Technology.

While studying photojournalism at RIT, I also studied color management, imaging systems, multimedia, forensics, special effects, ballistics, and underwater photography. I received the Gitner Scholarship for top portfolio in 2011 and had my work displayed in several RIT honor shows.

I currently work as a freelance photographer for the York Daily Record, GEICO, and for other clients. I primarily shoot photojournalism, but I also enjoy the fast pace of wedding and event photography and I enjoy going outdoors, shooting nature and underwater photography.

I am available for assignments in southeastern Pennsylvania and Maryland, covering Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Lebanon, Reading, Coatesville, West Chester, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, and D.C.
